Progress built together.

Community and School Health

People living in underserved communities can face significant barriers to accessing health information, preventive services and the resources needed to maintain healthy lives. Schools and community settings therefore provide important opportunities to promote healthy behaviours, reach families and connect people with available health services.

Development Corners promotes community and school health through practical health education, prevention and awareness activities designed around local needs.

Our approach may include health education for children, young people and families, oral health promotion, hygiene and sanitation awareness, nutrition and preventive health education, and collaboration with health facilities, community health workers and other relevant service providers.

We place emphasis on making health information understandable and practical, while strengthening the role of communities and local institutions in promoting healthier behaviours and improving access to appropriate services.

What we aim to achieve

We aim to improve knowledge and adoption of healthy practices, strengthen preventive health awareness and contribute to healthier schools, families and communities.

The programme will also seek to build stronger links between communities and existing health systems, helping people access appropriate information, referrals and services when needed.

Development Corners is a registered Zambian non-governmental organisation with certificate No. RNGO 101/1385/2020 committed to supporting stronger, healthier and more economically secure communities.
